The lack of innovative products can be a real threat to SAP's future
more..What we can learn from Warren Buffet and Berkshire Hathaway
more..Strange, how everything starts up with powering up Microsoft Word and start typing. I remember, back in my high school times, the nights with my IBM selectric typewriter (costing me one year of school jobs and allowance)). Watch it clacking and spinning while typing , the desktop enlighted by my little designer lamp that my godfather granted me (which costs a fortune ) and a chaotic sea of books around me. Books everywhere and a lot of whispering poems, essays and tractates in my head.. I wrote nearly every night, feverish, obsessed by books and typewriters, editing and publishing whatever was in my head, in my typing fingers and in my desktop drawer. It was my own little universe.
Hair grown long get cut short and live goes on.
Oh yes, I feel a gender problem coming. Soon I will cross the line and become a 2% minority age group at sdn with this unspeakable age number in front.
sdn is the community network of SAP professionals, with more than 2 million users and I am one of the avid bloggers on this forum. But recently, I feel a shift in engagement and audience. Is it a shift of my anticipation, lifetime experience or just getting old?
Sustainability in global business is nothing else than a fig leaf on the naked buns of profitabilty.
more..A lot has happened in the SAP world last this year. Apotheker ousted on the SAP Board, a phenomenal start of the CEO-Duo McDermot/Snabe, the great SAPPHIRE events with Sybase and Hasso's Inline database and the start of the Business By Design..
Inspired by the book enedeavor, that MArk Yolton, VP of sdn started with the title "TLE: The Living Enterprises" and the recent discussion on my little rant in sdn, where Mark nicely responded (and giving me some more insights), the discussions of "Living Enterprises" shifted slowly.

The old latin phrase bears the origin of the word „Video". Literally spoken, Video means "I see", and the whole latin phrase means "I See You In Luck".
more..When I first heard the news, that Leo Apotheker was leaving SAP, I was astounded. He was the boss of my boss, when I was at SAP and Leo was on his way to European Head with a "no prisoner" approach. Since I knew him, he was on the straight way to the CEO Office.
The second thing that amazed me was the reaction. Investors where wailing, developers in Walldorf applauded.
When it is about Video, it is also about publishing media content on the Web. Vimeo is a different video platform than most others.
First, it is non-commercial and will cater video artists and communities rather than enterprises or corporate publishing.
Second it provides some great features like Groups and Channels. Here you can setup channels of content or you can start a group that will collaborate together on video material.
more..
Why is video everywhere in communication, but business adopts slowly to this new technology?
How do you create Videos?
You want to add Video to your blog, your sdn post or your corporete site?
Check out the presentation.
more..In early spring this year I started a new discussion with a small company in Graz, Austria who was producing video based training for Adobe (Photoshop, Creative Suite etc) and various Open Source products like Blender etc. These training DVD are published like books and distributed by Addison Wesley. We started together the idea of applying this concept to SAP training
more..There is an interesting notion if I review most of my PI/XI work at customers site and in classrooms. Since Web Service, SOA and ESR is all the hype (and one major progress in 7.1) you might think that everybody is doing SOA and Web Service orchestration projects.
more..Crisis leads to new experiences. I was lucky over the last 4 years to have my projects close by, locally in the German Rhein/Main area. The new generation of projects is remote and - here I am - commuting between Germany Heartland and Switzerland. (Actually, SAP is 50 km away from where I live, just behind the Odenwald mountains.)
more..If you watch the incoming requests for SAP work, you noticed a shift toward projects, that will include workflow. And if you look at PI-based projects you can see a rise of applications types that uses BPM and „human intervention" the dramatic sounding term for BPM-based workflow.
more..There was an interesting discussion going on in investor circles. The issue, that international analyst are having with Leo Apotheker is the appearance as hard core salesmen.
While SAP was always a technology company, the famous German ingenieur-company was always about solid German technology. Like BMW or Henkel's Persil.
The fear is, that the lack of new technology and invention, the cutback on development workforce and the new verdict of selling is leading to a dryspell of projects and sales. The pipeline of innovations seems to be empty and no new products ultimately leads to no new projects.
